An electronic visa (eVisa) is a visa issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department to foreigners through an electronic transaction system.
Validity of the Electronic Visa
From August 15, 2023, the Vietnamese electronic visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days and allows single or multiple entries. The validity and number of entries will be clearly stated on the issued visa.
Who Can Apply for an Electronic Visa to Vietnam
Vietnam will issue electronic visas to citizens of all countries and territories worldwide, regardless of the purpose such as tourism, visiting relatives, business, work, trade, etc.
Procedure for Applying for an Electronic Visa
Prepare the following information and fill out the eVisa application form for consultation:
- Pages 2 & 3 of a foreign passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Vietnam and with at least 2 blank pages (absolutely no cover-up of information, no corner cut).
- One passport photo taken within the last 6 months:
- Color photo, white background.
- No hats, headscarves, unless required by religion.
- No glasses.
- No smiling.
- Choose the type of electronic visa:
- 1-month single or multiple entry.
- 3-month single or multiple entry.
- Entry and exit dates (not exceeding 90 days).
- Entry and exit airport.
Where to Apply for an Electronic Visa in the USA
You can register for an electronic visa on the Immigration Department’s website and will receive the result notification within 3 working days. However, processing time may vary depending on the number of applicants or public holidays. Therefore, it is recommended to submit your application 2 weeks before traveling to Vietnam.
Note: You cannot apply for an electronic visa in groups; each application only applies to one applicant.
Processing time may also extend to 5 days, 10 days, affecting your entry plans. Some reasons for delays include:
- Incorrect personal information: gender, nationality.
- Incorrect passport photo requirements: photo older than 6 months, blurry photo.
- International payment: using an international account for payment can take longer than a domestic account.
- System errors: issues with the electronic environment can cause system or transmission errors.
